I think the thought that most impresses me as I look at the definition of discipline is that it has to do with order. It means that we are taking a systematic approach to whatever goal we are wanting to achieve, whether it is to run a marathon or to improve a character trait or to manage a better schedule. It means that we have a plan on how we are going to achieve our goal and that we are going to abide by that plan. Discipline does not reflect an easy path. Discipline involves enforcing, controlling, imposing, submitting. To become disciplined requires hard work but I think we would all agree that the end results from discipline are well worth it when we achieve our goal. And, our highest goal is that "we might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." (I Peter 1:7b) We can not accomplish such a goal without learning in the process what it means to be disciplined.

Discipline is so difficult because it demands self-sacrifice, don't you think? We cannot be disciplined in the things of the Lord without giving up our "rights" to things...and this is so hard!
THANK YOU KELLY!!
I have been undisciplined lately and my heart was heavy... I looked into the word and it definately refreshes, cleanses and changes us if we let it. It and the Lord's strength is how we can do it.
Giving up things seems hard yes but when we do the blessing and sweet freedom that come rushing in is awesome. Thanks for thoughts ladies!!!
This is so good Kelly. I find it hard to be disciplined. My time can be so easily wasted. This is where I struggle. When I am at home in the quiet of my own house, is my time counting for good and for glory? The Lord has challenged me with this. By His grace things are changing and will continue to change. The discipline of a life for God is hard work - but well worth it! May He one day say of each of us "Well done."
Discipline is a constant, daily, hourly struggle in our lives. To really become a woman of God I have to learn to be disciplined...disciplined with my time, my words, my thoughts, etc...it goes on and on. Every area of our lives demands discipline! And how true that it requires self-sacrifice, Rachel. Perhaps that is the root to why it is so hard to be disciplined!
Great thoughts on discipline! I am in sore need of more discipline in my own life. I think part of it is how we were trained in our youth. My family has never been able to follow a structured schedule. I wish we could but even now it is a real challenge with three different people's work schedules and four people's school schedules. Hope to hear more of your thoughts on discipline. It would be wonderful if you could share any helpful tips with us about becoming more disciplined.
The Lord has been impressing upon me about being my disciplined in my spending habits and money management so that is what I am focusing on at the present.
Thanks for linking to my blog! That was very kind of you. Could I do the same or would you like to keep it more of a private blog for family and friends?
Lydia! Thanks for stopping by and visiting! I will certainly keep up with the thoughts on discipline and other topics as the Lord guides me and directs me in my own endeavor to become a more disciplined woman of God.
Schedules can be a hard thing to maintain, can't they? It's hard to keep ourselves in order so we can optimize our productivity for the Lord. As you work with being more disciplined with money you should stop by my friend, Rachel's Blog...she's very good at money management and has great ideas!! Her link is on my site "Out of the Overflow".
Feel free to link up to my blog...I don't mind at all! It's good to be in touch, Lydia!
