So I was in a meeting at work this week and another nurse rushed in and proceeded to share a story from her morning. She had been making her lunch and her dog jumped up and got a chunk of her meatloaf. She let him have the one bite and took the rest away. A few minutes later, she turned around and saw her dog, lying unresponsive. She immediately rushed over and started doggie CPR! Yep, that's right! Mouth to Snout CPR!
I'm not a pet owner so this intrigued me. Now I'm quite curious...how many of you would do mouth to snout?! (I'm also a little curious about her meatloaf! :-)

oh gross!!!!!! Never would I do that, but I'm not a pet person either. Yuck. Ugh, I can't stop gagging over that one! :o)

Nope, I think not...I really can't imagine loving an animal that much.
Was she able to save her dog?
Brooke, I'm not sure what was in the meatloaf...sounded scary so I didn't ask!
Rach, she was able to bring him around and get a few breaths from him before leaving for work! That's the last I heard!
I couldn't help but laught....quite a story. I'd like to think that that's something I wouldn't do. As much as I love dogs.....I don't think I'd go that far.
Did you ever hear a reasoning as to what caused this reaction?
First of all, NO WAY, ugh, gross, blech. Secondly, doesn't it sound more like he might have needed the heimlich manuever? How did she know he hadn't just choked? In either case I would have let him just rest in peace!
